Citrulline, a non-protein amino acid, is an important source of endogenous arginine. The gut is the main source of citrulline in humans. Citrulline exerts its effects on:

• Inhibiting intestinal cell apoptosis.

Fisetin

Fisetin may exert its neuroprotective effect by increasing the abundance of Lachnospiraceae, which:

• Alleviates gut inflammation.
• Reduces the production of toxic substances. This allows the spread of Lachnospiraceae from the gut to the brain.
